Episode 93 brings us a new song, sung during the restoration of the White Ark. Despite the fact that Allen's friends were being brought back from 'dead', it would've been more touching if the melody wasn't repeated like 5 times in 2 episodes. Still, I can't wait for a new OST to be released just to get this song and the piano piece.
It seems that a 3rd Season of Black Lagoon has been confirmed, meaning more kick-ass Revy action! Say Say Say! In addition, I've updated the previous post with more information about the characters for Jigoku Shoujo : Mitsuganae.
An anime by GONZO and Nitro+ that is currently airing, Blassreiter is officially broadcast with english subtitles (read LEGAL) on Youtube, Crunchyroll and BOST TV on the same day that it airs in Japan.
As the dark cloud of apocalypse shadows over the world, stigmatized heroes arise . . . . for reasons yet unknown . . .
The story takes place in a city in Germany sometime in the near future. A puzzling incident occurs where a corpse rises up in the form of a strange creature and attacks people. The appearance of the monstrous undead shakes the nation as horrified people look on the incident as a sign of "the coming of demons."
The city also witnesses the rise of those that can incarnate into demons at will. Each and every bearer of this special ability, while being condemned as demons, uses his/her power for different ends . . .
Some use the power for what they believe as justice. Some lose themselves in the immensity of their powers and abuse them. Some use their power to realize their ambitions. Some use it for the purpose of revenge.
However, all are eventually burdened with the same overpowering fate: to fight in a Battle Royale in which the lives of all "demons" are ultimately jeopardized . . .
Each uses their powers to survive, and to fulfill their individual purposes. However, using the special power comes with a price: their human minds gradually begin to debilitate . . .
An unrelenting and devastating story of young men and women racked with solitude and agony.
Blassreiter seems to be one of the more unappreciated shows of the season. Admittedly, I thought that I would not like it initially as it utilizes a fair amount of CGI, but it was pretty well done after all. The story started well enough but my favorite episode so far has got to be Episode 12, where the pride and courage demonstrated was almost touching enough to shed a tear.
All that talk aside, you can view the episodes (subbed) legally via the following links :
Sentan Island. A neutral area amidst the war between the Northern Government and the Southern Continent Free Zone, its residents are
able to continue with their daily lives peacefully.
However, the tranquility is shattered when an explosion rocks a local school bus and humanform creatures attack the island.
Caught in the bus explosion,
Akiyuki Takehara has a hiruko embedded into his arm that transforms him into a creature called a Xam'd. Though not comprehending the event that transpired, he is drawn into
battle with a humanform creature, following which a red-haired Tessik girl, Nakiami, appears and offers him the choice to follow her and live, or turn to stone should he choose to stay.
Brought onto the 'postal ship' captained by Ishu, Akiyuki embarks on a journey to understand what the hiruko seeks as well as to eventually forgive the person who caused him
to turn into a Xam'd.
Besides Akiyuki, the story also revolves a little around his friends Haru and Furuichi who were also involved in the bus explosion somewhat. A good
portion so far is also focused on Nakiami.
Xam'd is released subtitled on the Playstation Store as a video download. Apart from its interesting cast of characters, the visuals are pretty good and coupled
with a nice soundtrack and engaging story, make for an enjoyable watch despite it remaining under the radar of most anime watchers.
